I began this series 3 ½ years after Hurricane Katrina and the levee failures flooded New Orleans. Today, several neighborhoods stand predominately vacant. Abandoned schools decay behind chain link fences. Young men and boys, unable or unwilling to find a secure place in society turn to drugs and guns. Alongside the destroyed buildings and empty lots, changes are taking place. Homes are being restored, gardens are planted, and people are gathering to make plans for the future of their beautiful, damaged city.

This series represents the gains made in the city, the struggle that is the daily life of the residents, the people that have returned home, and those who cannot go home.
