I create custom quilts on commission. Commissioning an artwork is an exciting prospect for the purchaser and the artist, and I enjoy the challenge of matching a quilt to the purchaser. I work to the best of my ability to convey what the purchaser desires in the completion of the piece, using the highest quality materials.

The Process

I ask my clients to send me photos of the room where the piece will be placed, along with photos of colors and patterns that appeal to them. Later, I email (or print out and send) photos of possible combinations of fabrics and patterns for the clients to choose from. Typically, four to six combinations are sent to the client. Once a set of fabrics is chosen, I lay out the quilt pattern, and send a diagram to the client, if they wish. I will also send photos of the work in progress, as appliques and beading are added.

I have a standard agreement form which I send each client. Generally, I ask for 50% payment when the agreement is signed, and 50% when the piece is completed. Once the final payment is received, the artwork is shipped to the client. I ship via Federal Express.

A commissioned piece takes about three months to complete. If significant changes are made after the original design has been agreed upon, additional fees may be warranted, and more time may be necessary to complete the piece.
